We have gone back to the advanced agility levels. If you don't know what level you are, just give me a call at All Dog. The Levels program proves to be the best to keep everyone learning the skills at each level to move up with a knowledge for advancement. I think a theme each week will help all the instructors with each set up course outside or inside. We can concentrate on different skills weekly.

We have a great team here at All Dog Adventures. I am so proud of everyone. Congratulations to Kathy Smith, one of our instructors, for earning her Championship conformation title on her Old English Sheepdog, Pasha this August. She never had a hired, professional handle him. She did it all herself in a very competitive game. What a great job and beautiful dog.
Also, congratulations to Cabell West for making the top 20 Agility Bouviers in the country!! That's right, in the country! Cabell has been training her Bouvier, Annie, here at All Dog for several years, going to demonstrations with us, camps in Florida and Canada, and attending workshops put on by the top handlers in the country here at All Dog. Her work has been rewarded!! Now she has a pup, Allie, and ready to do it again!
Don't want anyone to forget we are having a Yard Sale on Sept 11th - more than just dog stuff, too. The CGC/TDI test will be Sept 10th at 6pm, also. This fall we have many things going on here on the weekends. Keep checking the BLOG for more information.

Teach your children to always ask if they can pet an approaching dog, then wait for the answer. Children should never put their face near a dog’s face, especially a strange dog.
Dog’s also should be taught not to jump on children. Good manners goes both ways.
Flyball classes starting September 3rd. Just call 804-355-7737 to get more information or register. The K-9 Kamikazes team will teach you and your dog how to run this fast paced crazy game!!! Friday nights 7:00pm to 8:00 are the classes, then the team practice begins.
Tracy will be at All Dog Adventures Oct 1-4 for private lessons and for 2 days of seminars. If you are interested in getting your young dog or puppy a great Foundation for anything but especially sports, this is the workshop for you. Using toys as rewards keeps you from having to carry food with your everywhere. Toys can include almost anything your pup can tug or fetch. I often use the leash as a reward for Journey going potty outside.
I am so thankful for the puppy class I am teaching right now. It reminds me of all the things I need to prepare for as I look forward to getting my puppy on July 24th. the next year will be busy and full of activity to make sure my pup's first impressions are ones that will set her up for success in all areas of her life. The pups that were in class last night are doing so well. There are things that come up, like excessive barking, that the owner's previous dogs didn't do. Every dog is here to teach us lots of things about dog training but also about life. We never stop learning whether it's about people, dogs, methods of training, or just the mechanics of managing our time. When dog owners say "my dog should know that", I get a bit impatient. How long did it take me to learn to manage a website, run the business, drive a car, type, or eat healthy. I have to practice to keep what I learned sharp. So do dogs. Practice and patience.
Thinking about dog training tips every day helps me focus on what dogs and people struggle with during their every day living. This week I taught a puppy class and had a few puppy in-home training sessions. Those people who were consistent in the new behaviors for their puppies were having the least number of problems. Whether it was "potty training" - taking the pup out of a consistent schedule or having the pup sit a the door to get her leash on or greeting peoples with a sit, the pups who knew how to get what they wanted at that moment because it was always the same were more focused on their owners. For future adult dogs, these pups will be more likely to "come" when called, not jump on people, and have great house behavior. So, today think about the things you are wishy washy when hanging out with your best dog friend.
Susan Garrett teaches the "It's Yer Choice" game of impulse control. It can be expanded to any training including obedience skills and agility skills. What fun!!
